As a white man, working on my emotional intelligence, I cannot for a moment overlook the inhumanity of slavery, or I would be and feel guilty.

I did overlook it and for so long looked the other way. Not out of intention but out of ignorance and conditioning by a white culture that was more concerned with greed than humaneness.

No more. I will not support any politician, friend, or foe, who allows the status quo to continue for any of the -isms.

Mr. Cotton, what are you afraid of that is so compelling you cannot acknowledge what is before your own eyes?

It was a choice then by a white majority as it is today...still a choice. Apparently, you refuse to work to eliminate injustices because it would somehow tarnish your reputation among your constituency.

If I were an Oklahoman, you would not receive my vote...or my respect.

Thank you Deval Patrick,

I am grateful for your courage and your voice.
