Thank you Mark for your consideration of this subject matter. And I appreciated the dialogue with some of your respondents. My experience is that when men see themselves and realize their own trauma in a different light or perspective they can begin the “work” as you call it. That work is looking at what we hide, repress and deny, honestly, openly and with a vulnerability we often have difficulty expressing.
I also appreciate the mention of the ManKind Project. This group of men is actively engaged in the work of self examination, helping men acknowledge the impact of their behavior (intended or unintended) and recognizing the bias’ of our patriarchal conditioning.
I invite all men to look within, survey themselves and begin the hard work of taking personal responsibility for their own emotional development. The dividends are priceless!
Sincerely,
Bruce
